On Tuesday the Lagos state police command has put some
strategies measures in place to tackle the ugly act of traffic robbers in the
state.
Mr Imohimi Edgal in a statement disclosed that over 28
traffic Robbery suspects were arrested over the weekend though they are yet to
be charged to court.
Mr Edgal also said they have strategized more locations for
the police men across the state to ensure a crime free festive season for Lagosians.
He said that there will be many locations for Patrol vehicles which will be at
strategic places.
He also pleaded with Lagosians not to panic but to believe in
the recent development as it is a strong move to their safety at all times. In
his statement he said
“The Lagos state police
command wishes to announce to members of the public that they should not be
unduly concerned with the increased presence of policemen across the state, include
the location of patrol vehicles at strategic traditional points.
Edgal also said “These measures are meant to checkmate the activities
of hoodlums and other social vices especially on routes with traffic snares
occasioned by construction works and port operation issues, especially the
Oshodi/Gbagada Exressway, Apapa, Ilupeju, Mile 2, Apongbon and other strategic
locations within the state”.
He also appealed to the members of the public to effectively
give creditable information’s to the police and also to report any strange
movement within their neighbourhood to enable the effectual delivery of the
ongoing agenda .
Finally he told Lagosians to resume their normal business or
daily work and disregard any profound claims of robberies on the major highways
in Lagos.
