A suspect identified as Chinedu Akpunonu a.k.a Obrocho was today charged
at the Ozubulu magistrate court in Anambra state for the killing of 13
people at St Philip Catholic church, Ozubulu on August 6, 2017. Chinedu
was arraigned along with another suspect, Mr Onyebuchi Mbanefo popularly
known as Dogy Dog (pictured in handcuffs).
According to reports,
the suspects were referred to Nnewi prison till 26th of February 2018
when they will appear again in the court of law.
The two are prime suspects for the Ozubulu Church Massacre.
About
13 persons were killed and 22 more injured when armed men stormed the
church and opened fire on the members with their target being Aloysius
Ikegwuonu a.k.a Bishop.
According to eyewitness, the armed men
were in search of their target 'Bishop' in the church and when they did
not find him, they opened fire on innocent members including Cyprian
Ikegwuonu, his father who also died in the attack.
