The former provost of the School of Maritime in Burutu, Delta State, Dr. Johnson Ditimi, was killed by an unknown gunman in Delta state over the weekend.
According to reports, Dr Johnson was living in Warri and had just moved to his country home in Kiagbodo area of the state. He was allegedly trailed by his attacker to his house where he was killed in the presence of two of his children.
According to the children of the deceased, the suspected assassin knocked on the door and spoke in a language their father understood. With the assumption that he was a kinsman, their father opened the door for the man who immediately opened fire at him.
He died while he was being rushed to the hospital with his gunshot wound.
A family source said the younger brother of the deceased was killed in a similar manner a few years ago.
