Yesterday Lagosian’s
protested against the anti-people policies of the Lagos state government under
the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Aggressive street
traders who been hunted daily by the environment task-force and others who have
been displaced and evicted from their homes carried out a peaceful demonstration
on the street of Lagos to express their dissatisfaction with the governor’s
policies.
They
complained that the Lagos state government have been engaged in land grabbing and
the recent demolition of the community waterfront seized from the poor people
living in Lagos which is then sold to real estate developers without any compensation.
They called
on governor Ambode to invest in social housing and stop demolishing the
existing ones. They also pleaded with the government to create affordable
houses, adequate security and to stop the indiscriminate arrest of Lagosians
especially the petty traders.
